Of course, there is still plenty of activity in Atlantic Coast League. There are roster and financial moves to be made. There is the endless speculation of who will end up where. Rumors, trades, firings, hirings and a joyful merry-go-round of action that will culminate with Opening Day.

But once the Atlantic Coast League playoffs start today, it's a sprint to the finish. One false move, one errant miscue, one pressure-packed flub will end your team's chances of winning the title. It could be over in a moment. On the other hand, one swing of the bat or a fastball blown by the last hitter could just as easily send your team parading down Main Street, hoisting a 24-carat gold-studded Coastal Cup trophy before an adoring crowd. The contending ballclubs are all poised and ready -- the playoffs begin today with several Coastal Cup showdowns: Huntsville Crawfish versus West Union Black Sox. |  | ACLA News: Regular Season ends Sunday, August 11th, 1963: Happy days are here for the playoff-bound teams. The Atlantic Coast League regular season is over and the playoffs will soon get under way to determine the league's best team for 1963. The clubs are planning their lineups and pitching rotations, going over scouting reports, trying to glean bits of information that might give them the edge. Nothing is seemingly left to chance.
